Welcome to bold in public.

I've spent 20 years inside government as a policy analyst, state Chief Data Officer, Fulbright Scholar, and now Chief Administrative Officer at one of the top research universities in the US.

I know what it's like to be the person with the idea that doesn't land. I also know how to change that. I coach people who want to make government work better — and who are ready to show up bigger to do it.

We all depend on competent government, we need roads, sewers, schools, investments in science. I believe lots of smart people want to make a difference and sometimes they need a little kick to get to the next level of influence.

My writing and the space I am creating helps you become influential and impactful in public sector organizations, grow your own clarity, confidence and knowledge. Bold inside. Bold in public.

Three things no one teaches you in government

Most public sector training covers process. This platform has a policy accelerator that explains public policy science and it covers power, the inside power that lets you write memos and emails others read, speak in rooms where decisions happen, and build strong institutions around you.

POLICY THEORY that actually explains government. Why is there always a line at DMV? How does a bureaucracy actually works? How to get my workgroup to agree on anything?

MINDSET of a bold public leader. Develop internal confidence by increasing your competence. Gain clarity of your ideas and next action steps. Shift from questions to answers.

INSTITUTION building from inside. How to strengthen systems, build high performing teams, create lasting change, even when you are not at the top of the organization? Leadership and skills compound over time.
